The short answer is as usual the alphabet people hijacked it and ruined it. Like the Rainbow and the word gay.

See, Woke has been around a very long time, 60 years or so.

It began as the simple realization that as a person of color there are certain things you have to deal with that white people don't have to, and you should be aware that's the world you live in.

That's it. You'll note there's nothing in there about reparations or white people feeling bad about things their ancestors did they had no control over.

I am ambivalent about the alphabet people. Generally as long as people aren't beating them up or stealing their shit I dislike them as much as I dislike everyone else.

I'm sure there are things that the gays deal with that I as a heterosexual do not. I am however, tired of them hitching their wagon of struggle to that of people of color.

For you see, nobody every brought gays on a long boat trip, or sold them, or sicked dogs on them or sprayed them with fire hoses. And people of color don't have the luxury of "the closet."

As soon as the gay people got on board suddenly woke took a radical left turn and became the ****ery it is today where the world will end if you misgender someone.

Good post. It's deeper then that and gets to the corruption we saw with say the BLM leader and the pervasive shift from focusing on inclusion (MLK jr. message) to equalizing results no matter how dysfunctional one's culture was. (DEI, with a focus on the "E")

I am generally a "what you do in your own house, as long as it does not impact me, nor my tax dollars, 'you do you'". That goes to gay marriage (my view: if you are in a loving relationship, pay taxes, quiet neighborhoods, etc. - then all good. I happen to live adjacent to a resort town that has a long and proud gay community. Quiet, people do not lock doors, rising properly values, great shopping - etc. It ain't Mayor Johnson's Chicago). It goes to Abortion. If AOC wants to unwind a pregnancy, especially in the first 20 weeks, I do not care.

Where they lost the plot is when liberal, elite moms saw their white sons not getting into any elite schools or elite jobs because of DEI. All of a sudden virtue signaling started to impact their future wealth and power contour. Similar to the jewish population (of which I am 25%). They (we) saw that the goodness of the left (broader inclusion) was getting hijacked due to Critical Theory and CRT and then Jews were getting excluded from higher ed. Want proof? Take the % of jews admitted to Ivy Leagues over the past 30 years - the number has dropped, like a ROCK.

It is when white liberal males on CNN were no longer given slots (although, in fairness, who in the world could hire Brian Stelter). "Ooops - maybe this is coming for me."

They lose the plot when they decry white / white male percentages in certain fields and then stay absolutely silent when Indians and Chinese become 80% of STEM programs and technology jobs.

A variant of this is when the Stuyvesant magnet school was profiled in the NYT, a school in a black neighborhood, that has under 10% black population. It was written as white supremacy. The real shift? Asians are 6 percent of the neighborhood but over 40% of the students. Nothing was said.

Thousands of other examples....

I think there's a deeper, darker agenda to going so quickly from "what we do in our bedroom isn't your business" to the mainstreaming of alphabet culture and the the forced acceptance of horrible things like chemically castrating 9 year olds.

It has to do with the dismantling of the nuclear family, organized religion and essentially the reliance and trust in anything but institutions.

Dave Chapelle last filmed show was all about alphabet people elbowing in on woke and taking all the oxygen. And being the most frigging intolerant folk around. A lot of truth be spoke

It is interesting, I did a search on ChatGPT and came up with the following:

_____________

Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Marxism each offer critiques of the nuclear family, but they do so from different frameworks and purposes. Below is a breakdown of how each views the nuclear family and why it matters in their respective theories:

Marxism and the Nuclear Family

Key View:
Marxism views the nuclear family as an institution tied to capitalist reproduction, property inheritance, and social control.

Key Criticisms:

  1. Economic Function:
The family sustains capitalism by reproducing labor (children) and caring for workers without wages (domestic labor, especially by women).
  2. Property and Inheritance:
According to Friedrich Engels in The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State, the nuclear family arose to guarantee the inheritance of private property, reinforcing patriarchal and class hierarchies.
  3. Ideological Reproduction:
Families help instill capitalist norms, obedience to authority, and gender roles in children—ensuring the next generation accepts the capitalist system.

Critical Race Theory and the Nuclear Family

Key View:
CRT is less focused on the family structure itself and more on how dominant cultural norms around the nuclear family are racialized and used to uphold white supremacy.

Key Criticisms:

  1. Racial Normativity:
CRT scholars often argue that the "ideal" of the nuclear family is racialized as white, middle-class, and heteronormative—used to marginalize Black, immigrant, and non-traditional family structures.
  2. Policy and Criminalization:
In U.S. history and policy (e.g. welfare debates, the Moynihan Report of 1965), the absence of a nuclear family in Black communities was pathologized, often used to blame Black poverty and crime on cultural deficiencies rather than structural racism.
  3. Resistance to Dominant Narratives:
CRT highlights that non-nuclear family structures in communities of color often represent adaptive responses to historical oppression, not moral failings. Extended kinship, community parenting, and non-biological care networks are valid and functional.

Where we are with woke and DEI is the logical outcome of the gay marriage ruling. I am surprised we haven't had polygamist run up to SCOTUS yet!

I am fine with people doing whatever they want at home as long as its consensual and no one ends up hurt. The people of the founders era did not believe liberty was an excuse for licentiousness.

The moderate SCOTUS judge Sandra Day O'Connor wrote about it.

I am not and will not be onboard with persecuting the rainbow people nor am I onboard with society/gubmint normalizing perversion and mental illness.

Striking down the Texas sodomy laws was as far as we needed to go IMHO.

Seems fair

I've always wondered why Asians and Jews have to put up with racism and earn things with merit. Then again, they got the assignment and they're pretty good at both.
No one treated the asians or jews as helpless victims whose only chance was getting special treatment. They knew their only option was making it on their own individually.
